“Two Classes of 1968” is a compelling documentary blending a coming-of-age story with religious history set under the bright lights of the Civil Rights Movement that follows a group of insulated Black American Catholic high school students in Augusta, Georgia, who are stunned by the sudden and abrupt closure of their beloved Immaculate Conception Academy (ICA.) With the confidence instilled in them by the dedicated nuns that taught and nurtured them, the majority of the ICA senior class seized a historic opportunity to integrate the esteemed, but segregated Aquinas High School on the hill. A long way from the safety and comfort of their close-knit neighborhood — affectionately known as The Golden Blocks — the class emerged as unlikely agents of social change.
